Many solutions providers have attempted to answer the question of “how do I streamline day-to-day paperwork processes without disrupting the simplicity of using ordinary pen and paper? Many service-oriented firms have sought to acquire a cost reducing solution that would improve paper workflows without disrupting the day-to-day practices that typically result in high redundancies. The challenge to date has been addressed by introducing mobile tools such as laptops into the day-to-day workflow, however, this has been rejected by many as an intrusion to the person-to-person contact necessary to create and maintain customer relationships. As a result, much of the paper redundancies remain consistent, as the paperwork challenge remains unanswered. |

The digital pen works in conjunction with the “Anoto-ized” paper document dot pattern applied, and includes an infrared camera which takes up to 25 pictures per second during pen strokes.
The pen records the coordinates of pen movements along the dot pattern and transmits the data via a Bluetooth connection with a cell phone or by a USB cradle docking station.

By maintaining the integrity of normal pen and paper practice, the form image itself along with the data from the pen strokes can be extracted in real time and transmitted as an xml data source. It is highly secure, easy to use and at the end of the day, it’s still pen and paper, but the inherent technology provides real time digital solutions resulting in reduced administrative redundancies
